Sacred Himalaya: Experience healing arts and an ancient cultural tradition

24 Nov 2010

On Monday 6 December (6pm) in St Peter's Chaplaincy

Monday 6 December, doors 6pm, performance begins 7pm
St Peter's Chaplaincy, Precinct Centre, Oxford Road

Following a sell-out tour of 11 European countries, Sacred Himalaya arrives in Manchester!

Performed by monks from Tskeramo Monastery in Ladakh, India, in the Himalayan foothills, The Sacred Art of the Himalaya demonstrates the application of Himalayan monastic arts of healing and a centuries-old cultural tradition which is deeply rooted in the Buddhist concepts of love, compassion, tolerance and non-violence.

It includes authentic performances of sacred tantric music, vibrant masked dances, chants, multi-phonic singing and mudras (sign language), to the accompaniment of Tibetan horns and drums from the Himalaya region.

Members of the audience will be guided through a step-by-step process for generating positive energy for self-healing and reconciliation.

These performances normally take place behind the monastery doors, so this entertaining and educational event provides a rare opportunity to glimpse the ancient culture of the Himalaya. All proceeds go to the monastery and the attached orphanage to support the work that the monks do on a daily basis.

Sacred Himalaya is enjoyed by children of all ages, so it makes a great family outing.
