23 Nov 2010
'Lessons from a life in science, how to get a Nobel prize' on 1 December
AstraZeneca Nobel Medicine Initiative and Manchester Cancer Research Centre are honored to present 2001 Nobel Laureate Dr. Tim Hunt at The University of Manchester.
The lecture will take place on Wednesday 1 December 2010, 4.15pm–6pm, in Lecture Theatre B, University Place.
Starting from Peter Medawar’s famous description of scientific research as “the art of the soluble”, in this general lecture 2001 Nobel Laureate in Medicine Tim Hunt will describe how he chose his research questions and how he came upon their solutions. Relying on what he describes as his particular ability for “spotting tiny clues that give the game away”, he reveals how the answers revealed themselves “often more by luck than full-frontal attack”.
This is a great opportunity to listen to an internationally renowned scientist and take part in a questions and answer session following the lecture, all are welcome.
