"The Eyjafjallajökull eruption: the science behind the disruption"

Institute of Physics Christmas Lecture on 8 December in Lecture Theatre B, Roscoe Building

The Nonlinear and Complex Physics Group of the Institute of Physics is pleased to invite you to a public Christmas Lecture on "The Eyjafjallajökull eruption: the science behind the disruption" by Professor Stephen Mobbs, Director NERC Centre for Atmospheric Sciences.

Stephen Mobbs is a Professor of Atmospheric Dynamics, and the Director of NERC's National Centre for Atmospheric Science. He is a physicist by training and took a leadership role in NERC's airborne observations of the ash cloud over the UK during the Eyjafjallajökull eruption. Professor Mobbs serves on scientific and operational advisory groups set up by the UK government to deal with the Eyjafjallajökull and future environmental emergencies.

The lecture will take place at 7pm on Wednesday 8 December 2010 in the Roscoe Building, Lecture Theatre B at The University of Manchester.

You do not need to be a member of the IOP to attend the lecture. Entry is free and members of the public are very welcome.
