MS60: Child Protection Policy and Guidance sessions will be available at STDU on the following dates:
- 17 November 2010, 2pm-4pm
- 17 December 2010, 2pm-4pm
or - 27 January 2011, 10am-2pm
- 24 February 2011, 10am-2pm
The target participants are staff whose work may bring them into contact with young people under 18 in the course of their official duties.
The aim and objective of the course is to provide a general overview of the University\'s Child Protection Policy and the responsibilities of those involved in taking part in, or leading, University activities involving young people.
By the end of the session, those taking part will:
- Be aware of the possible forms and indications of child abuse
- Take appropriate action if they become aware of possible cases of child abuse
- Handling student applications for projects involving young people
- Have a good general overview of the University\'s policy and know where to go for further information and advice
- Have an understanding of the Independent Safeguarding Authority and appropriate registrations required when working with children and/or vulnerable adults
