Focus on Travel: Reduce your carbon footprint
16 Nov 2010
Exhibition on sustainable travel on 17 November in University Place
Come along to the University's Focus on Travel exhibition on Wednesday 17 November and learn more about what we as individuals and as a University can do to reduce the carbon emissions caused by our daily commuting and business travel.
The University is committed to reducing its carbon footprint by 40% by 2020 and transport-related emissions make up a significant part of this footprint.
The 2010 Staff Travel Survey highlighted that much progress has been made over the last 10 years to encourage staff to travel to work and on University business by more sustainable modes.
This exhibition - organised by the Sustainability Team - aims to focus our minds on the huge task which still faces us all.
You’ll be able to pick up ideas for alternatives to single-occupancy car use from cycling organisations (including a bike auction and bike maintenance), local transport providers, GMPTE, and Andrew Hough, University Travel Plan Coordinator.
There will also be opportunities to join campus walks, pick up a second hand bike at an auction, experience video conferencing, and view one of the first hybrid buses in Manchester.
The exhibition will run from 10am to 2pm at University Place, Oxford Road.
