New StaffNet site aids recycling of unwanted office furniture

Keep used desks, chairs and storage out of landfill
The furniture4reuse website is now up and running.
In response to staff suggestions, good practice, economic pressure and in support of the University’s sustainability agenda, Procurement, Estates Frontline Services and the Web Development team have created a web portal where staff can either dispose of or obtain items of good quality office furniture which otherwise would end up being sent to landfill.
This is an opportunity for staff to demonstrate their commitment to the environment, reducing furniture miles, waste to landfill, virgin material use and energy usage.
The site offers the opportunity to effectively cut down costs whilst maintaining need so users can redirect spend to more project beneficial resources whether it be equipment or people.
Due to limited Estates resources the University have partnered with JD Services who will arrange the transfer of furniture with minimal costs.
Feedback will be welcomed and suggestions for improvements encouraged – this is a site for those who want to make a difference – let’s share our resources and be a stakeholder in the University’s future.
