Email and Calendar Services
30 Sep 2010
Changes to be aware of during the transfer period.
As announced in May 2010, IT Services is upgrading the systems that run the main staff email and calendar services. We have already successfully transferred 3,000 out of the 16,000 total staff and postgraduate research students onto the new service, however, with such a large number of staff accounts being affected, the move will take many months to complete. During this time some staff will be on the new Microsoft Exchange Service, while others remain on the old service.
For a period of time, this will make sharing calendars and sending meeting requests a little more complicated. If you use your calendar or a shared calendar to schedule meetings and check others' availability, you will need to be aware of how to do this across two systems. IT Services has produced some support articles to guide you through arranging meetings and checking calendars. You can find these articles and additional information about the new email and calendar service, Microsoft Exchange, online at:
You will be contacted by IT Services at least three weeks before your move so that you have time to prepare, so unless you are experiencing technical issues, there is no need to contact IT Services.
