Oxford Road Link (147) - Fare revision and route change
25 Aug 2010
Changes to bus service from Monday 6 September
From Monday 6 September, there are to be changes to the 147 bus service, namely:
Fare Increase
For the first time in five years fares are to increase. Over the last five years, the service partners have absorbed increases in fuel, insurance and running costs. Whilst the partners will continue to subsidise the service, this fare rise is needed to maintain its long-term viability.
The new fares will be:
- 80p for a single journey (matching the Manchester concessionary rate from now on)
- £1.50 for a day ticket
- £240 for an annual ticket (contact businfo@bullockscoaches.com)
- £120 for an annual student ticket (contact businfo@bullockscoaches.com)
Route Change
The service will stop outside the new hospital entrances on the new NHS boulevard. This means it will no longer stop at the old Eye Hospital (going southbound, it will turn left just prior to it). Upon leaving the boulevard, the service will continue on its normal route along Hathersage Road, Upper Brook Street, Grafton Street and on to Oxford Road.
Free Travel Zone
For staff and students at The University of Manchester, the free travel zone will operate from Sackville Street (North Campus) to the stops either side of the Students' Union on Oxford Road.
