There are places available on the IOSH Managing Safely and the NEBOSH General Certificate in Health and Safety, at STDU.
The Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Certificate covers current legislation and codes of practice, hazard and risk assessment and outlines the role and powers of the Health and Safety Executive and the responsibilities of Managers.
The course is recommended as suitable for managers, laboratory superintendents and supervisors who must be fully acquainted with their responsibilities under current legislation. This course is also recommended for SSAs in small departments and those working within low risk areas.
It is a four-day modular course, every Friday between 3 and 24 September and you must attend all for sessions. Each session will start at 9.30am and finish at 4.30pm.

The IOSH Certificate is a pre-requisite for the NEBOSH General Certificate in Health and Safety. The General Certificate is a nationally recognised and accredited qualification in Health and Safety, and is aimed at School Safety Advisers and those with similar duties for Health and Safety.
The General Certificate is run over 13 sessions. The course will commence on Wednesday 22 September until 8 December, examination held on Friday 10 December. All sessions will be 9.30am-4.30pm
