Message from Mrs Ingrid Gilbert
19 Aug 2010
Thanks to all who have sent messages of condolence
May I take this opportunity to thank all those staff, students and friends of the University who have sent me thoughtful and kind messages of condolence following Alan's death.
The volume of mail has been enormous and truly overwhelming. Unfortunately, I have only a little time left in England, so I will not be able to reply to everyone individually as I would have liked. I hope that this message will in some way communicate my gratitude to you all.
I have been deeply moved by the generous tributes paid to Alan, and I am so appreciative of the support that you have shown to me, my daughters and all the family.
I know that Alan loved his time at the University and I will always have very fond memories of our six years in Manchester.
While I am looking forward to returning to Australia, I will miss the many friends that made our time here so enjoyable and memorable.
Kind regards
Ingrid Gilbert
