Virgin Trains' CharityLine: discounted rail tickets

This service will not be available to the University after 13 August

This is a reminder that rail tickets cannot be booked through Virgin Trains' CharityLine after 13 August. The letter from Virgin states that they will honour tickets booked for travel after 13 August, but please ensure that when travelling using the discounted tickets you have with you a copy of this letter and your staff card.

Unfortunately, the University is not eligible for the discount as it does not receive 10% of its funding from voluntary contributions nor is it listed on the Charity Commission web site.

The Procurement Office is currently working with colleagues from across the University to source an effective online travel system that will include a provision for online booking of rail tickets.

In the meantime, please use Delta Travel (this incurs a booking fee of £5 per trip) or other online sources (such as thetrainline.com, which incurs a charge of £3.50) using the School credit card for booking.

Please circulate this information to relevant staff. Further news regarding the online booking system will be communicated in the near future.
