Tabley Friends fix a fizzy Summer Evening!

Songs, strawberries and sparkles at Tabley Hall on 13 July
After a racy talk on the romances and scandals of the Leycester family and two successful outings (to Tissington’s well-dressing and the Hall in Derbyshire and the Blackburn Museum, Galleries and Cathedral), the Friends of Tabley are ending their summer programme with a fizz.
On Tuesday 13 July at 7.30pm, there will be a “Summer Evening of Songs, Strawberries and Sparkles”. The Cheshire choir, Consort*, has been invited back and will sing some delightfully varied music, from Elizabethan madrigals to Gershwin and gospel, and much in between.
The concert will be in Tabley House’s showpiece room, the stunning Gallery. In the interval, there will be a glass of very nice bubbly and some strawberries for the audience (and the choir afterwards!).
“We’re hoping for a repeat of last year’s weather, when we enjoyed the goodies outside on the portico, with those wonderful views” said Nick Payne, Chairman of the Friends.
“We’ve already sold well over 50 tickets and it promises to be a super summer evening” he said “and all the proceeds go towards our new project, refurbishing the House’s chapel”.
“We’ve successfully funded the restoration of the main Dining Room, but we now need to re-fill the coffers” said Mr Payne. “This was our most expensive project to date, with the Friends contributing £25,000.”

* Consort was founded in 1988 as a madrigal group of eight singers to help celebrate the 800th anniversary of St. Wilfred’s Church in Grappenhall. The group has since grown and now sings music from the 15th to the 21st centuries.
