Staff Travel Survey 2010 closes on 26 July
21 Jul 2010
There's still time for you to win £100!
Dear Colleagues
I need your help in planning for the future - help which may win you £100! So, please spend six to eight minutes completing the questionnaire from the link below which seeks information about your daily commute to and from the University and your travel preferences.
The following link will take you to the survey:
We need this information for three main reasons:
- First, as required by the Government and HEFCE, the University is committed to reducing its CO2 emissions by 40% by 2020 - and staff commuting contributes significantly to the University's total carbon footprint (for further background to this commitment, see Carbon Management).
- Second, in order to plan more effectively for the future (e.g. in the provision of cycle storage and car park spaces), we need as accurate a picture as possible of current commuting habits.
- Third, the University is the largest employer in Manchester after the City Council. The information provided through the questionnaire will enable us to work with the Council with the aim of improving public transport to ensure that it better meets the needs of the University staff.
Any survey is only useful if it is completed by a significant proportion of staff. So, may I urge you, please, to make this a priority before the survey closes on Monday 26 July. As an incentive, we are offering prizes (one £100 and two £50 high street vouchers) for randomly selected completed questionnaires.

Thank you in advance for your helpful cooperation.
Sincerely
