Applications are invited from academic, academic related or research staff or postgraduate students of The University of Manchester for Residential Pastoral Advisors posts (formerly known as residential tutor) available in various residences throughout the University residential campus areas.
Residential Pastoral Advisors work as part of the welfare support team in each residence. Duties include assisting in the pastoral care of residents, working with the Residents Association and helping to foster a community spirit. Residential Pastoral Advisors will be required to be on call during the night and at weekends on a rota basis with other colleagues. The exact roles and responsibilities and terms of appointment is under review at the current time and applicants will be advised of any changes at interview.
Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate a genuine/active interest in student affairs; individuals must be approachable and sociable, and of a socially responsible disposition, being able to demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills and an aptitude for team-working and group leadership.
Remuneration is given to Residential Pastoral Advisors in the form of free accommodation. Tutors residing in catered halls are expected to pay for the meal charges applicable for their hall of residence.
