Standard Desktop PC image in central teaching rooms

Information for staff about initial log-in process

Teaching Support Services and IT Services have initiated a project to move the PCs in centrally timetabled teaching rooms over to the Student Desktop image. This image will provide all standard software required for teaching, full network security and vastly improved protection against virus infections.

Staff will be required to log in to the machines with their standard University username and password. User of the rooms should be aware that their initial log-in to an individual machine may take slightly longer than usual while the PC gathers profile information for the first time. Any subsequent log-ins will, however, be significantly faster.

Teaching Support Services and IT Services would ask that central teaching room users be patient during this transition, but are also confident that the many benefits of the new computer image will be well received.
