"Communication Matters" session with Prof Geoffrey Beattie on 22 April

This session is being led by Professor Geoffrey Beattie - Head of School and Dean of Psychological Sciences at The University of Manchester.

This will be an interactive session which will show how the hand movements people make when they speak can reveal their underlying thoughts and that it is possible to read someone’s mind by studying these movements. The session will also consider how body language develops and why it is of crucial significance to interaction amongst human beings.

Professor Beattie is widely regarded as one of the leading international figures on non-verbal communication. He has published 15 books, many of which have either won, or been short-listed for, major international prizes.

He also appears regularly on television, perhaps most famously as the resident psychologist on the Channel 4 series ‘Big Brother’. His other TV credits include ‘Child of Our Time’ (BBC1), and as a frequent commentator on GMTV, BBC News 24 and Sky News.
