Beacons for Public Engagement Initiative
15 Feb 2010
Online survey of UK higher education staff, and researchers
Led by The University of Manchester with Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell as the Principal Investigator, the Manchester Beacon is part of ‘The Beacons for Public Engagement’ initiative, launched by the UK Higher Education Funding Councils, Research Councils UK and the Wellcome Trust in January 2008.
Manchester Beacon is at the forefront of efforts to bring about a substantial change in the culture of universities by motivating, assisting and rewarding staff and students to enthusiastically reach out, listen to and engage with the public.
In 2008 Oakleigh Consulting Limited, evaluators of the Beacons for Public Engagement initiative on behalf of the funders, conducted an online survey as part of their baseline assessment. A similar survey is now taking place to allow them to identify any changes in perceptions relating to public engagement.
This survey is for all staff working in UK higher education institutions or research institutes or centres. It will take no more than 10-15 minutes of your time so please follow the weblink below and contribute to evaluating the impact of the Beacon initiative.

The questionnaire will be available online from Monday 15 February to Friday 2 April 2010.
