Celebrating LGBT History Month

Relaunch of LGB Staff Network and other events: 22-28 February

The Equality and Diversity Team are delighted to announce the relaunch of the LGB Staff Network Group. This will be just one of several events organised to celebrate LGBT History Month. This is in conjunction with the recently launched Diversity Calendar where February's theme is LGBT History.

These events will take place from Monday February 22 until Sunday February 28 with an open invitation encouraging staff and students to make this year's celebration bigger and better and celebrate the diverse make up of the University.

The relaunch will take place on Monday 22nd February and will include a free performance from Manchester Lesbian & Gay Chorus - all staff are invited to attend. Other events during the week will include the screening of different films, a talk on challenging homophobia in schools, a historical tour of significant spots in Manchester relating to LGBT History and a country ramble.

  • Monday 22 February - Launch of history week, the LGBT Staff Network Group and performance from MLGC - Christie Bistro - 5pm onwards
  • Tuesday 23 February - Film 'A Simple Man' - Cornerhouse Cinema
  • Wednesday 24 February - Talk from primary school teacher Andrew Moffat, 'Challenging Homophobia in Schools' - 1.218 University Place - 5pm
  • Thursday 25 February - Film shorts - Gateway to Heaven (age and homosexuality) plus Oscar-nominated Sidney Turtlebaum (Jewish Film Festival)- A113 Samuel Alexander Building - 5pm
  • Friday 26 February - LGBT History Tour of Manchester - 5pm Sackville Park (pre booking essential with E&D Team at lgbt@manchester.ac.uk)
  • Sunday 28 February - LGBT Rambling Club goes to ... - 9am from central Manchester - contact Thomas at Thomas.Nuhse@manchester.ac.uk
