14 Dec 2009
The Universities of Manchester and Salford have handed over a cheque for £1000 to the children’s medical research charity, Sparks.
The cash was raised at the 2009 University Boat Race, which took place at Salford Quays in the summer.
Kate Hodgkinson, President of the University of Manchester Boat Club and Caroline Dangerfield, her counterpart from Salford University were on hand to present the cheque, along with Assistant Director of Sport from The University of Manchester, Chris Renshaw.
Emily Taylor Community Fundraiser for Sparks (Northwest) came to Manchester to accept the cheque and said: “This is a wonderful amount of money and it will make a real difference to our research. We have a wide variety of research projects and it will be a significant sum for them so we want to thank the Universities very much for their support, not only this year, but for the past three years.”
