SMS trial at John Rylands University Library
09 Nov 2009
A new way of communicating with customers
John Rylands University Library are trialling SMS as a new style of communication. Customers who have signed up to the trial now receive a text message to let them know when a reserved item is ready for collection. The standard method is via email.
Since the trial began in late October, over 150 customers have signed up for the service and we are already receiving very positive feedback.
One satisfied customer described the service as "great" and "very convenient". Her reserved book had been returned at 12.40pm, the text message had been sent out at 1pm and she had collected the book ten minutes later. She explained to us that if she had not received a text, it could have been a number of days before she was able to travel back to the library and collect the book.
There are a few places remaining on the trial. If you wish to join, please go to:
- Blue 1 Information Desk, Main Library
or - Joule Library
The trial will continue to the end of semester one.
