Staff invited to take part in Big Bang Fair

Manchester event aimed at 10,000 pupils, teachers and parents
The Big Bang Fair will take place at Manchester Central (formerly GMEX) 11 to 13 March 2010.
The event will provide an opportunity for all Faculties of the University to engage with over 10,000 children aged nine-19 with their teachers and 2,000 adults and showcase both The University of Manchester and the prospects for a future career in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).
The Fair aims to excite and inspire young people about the vast opportunities available from taking STEM subjects and pursuing careers in STEM sectors through theatre shows, workshops, presentations and interactive experiences.
There will a main exhibition area featuring further interactive experiences and learners will have the opportunity to meet scientists and engineers from industry and academia. This area will be sub-divided into a central Careers Hub and surrounded by four engagement areas which the young people will interact with.
The University intends to have a corporate presence in each of the four areas, the Careers Hub and the Teacher’s Lounge. This will provide the opportunity for Schools to be involved and interact at a personal level. For further details, please contact:
