Celebration of the life of Professor Harold Hankins

Commemorative event on Wednesday 7 October

On 7 October 2009, a commemorative event will be held at the University to celebrate the life of Professor Harold Hankins, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of UMIST from 1984 to 1995, who died on 2 May 2009.

The event will begin at 11am, when tea and coffee will be served in the Entrance Hall of the Sackville Street Building. The ceremony itself will take place in the Great Hall, Sackville Street Building, from 11.30am to 12.30pm (approximately). A buffet lunch will be available immediately afterwards in the Entrance Hall.

Tickets will be issued electronically wherever possible, so please include the email address to which your e-ticket should be sent. If this is not possible, please give your postal address and Liz will ensure that a ticket is posted to you. Tickets will be issued on a first come, first served basis.

Family members are requested to contact Mrs Hankins directly.

Finally, for catering purposes, please indicate whether you will attend the buffet lunch.
