Brand new University website is launching soon
What is KnowIT?
KnowIT is the brand new easy-to-use University of Manchester website that will improve the service you get from your IT department, whether you're a student, a member of staff, a computer beginner or a technical expert, and we need your assistance to make it as good as possible before it's launched in time for the start of the academic year.
Basically, KnowIT is a massive online knowledge base with hundreds and hundreds of University of Manchester specific articles on many different IT-related subjects.
There are "How To" guides, information articles and ways to fix any errors or problems you may come across. There's help and advice on using loads of different university systems, how to purchase or rent equipment, information on computer clusters, maintaining your user account and much more.
In addition to the University-specific information though, there are thousands and thousands of documents and videos on using popular software packages from companies such as Microsoft, Adobe, Apple, McAfee, Google, Mozilla and more.
The reason we need you to help us is so we can make sure we've got the information that our users need. We want University people from all backgrounds and technical abilities to test this system to help us develop it and make it an invaluable part of IT Services.
In the next few weeks we'll be setting up focus groups to test the system and give us their opinions on the layout, the content and the usability of the site. Your input will be greatly appreciated!
