New Trustees for Museum of Science and Industry

University Director of Regional and Economic Affairs is new Vice Chair

The Minister for Culture, Barbara Follett has announced that three leading names in the worlds of arts, engineering and science have been appointed to the board of trustees at the Museum of Science & Industry (MOSI) in Manchester.

The new trustees are:

• Peter Fell (who takes over from David Johnston as Vice Chair), Director of Regional and Economic Affairs at The University of Manchester. He has a strong interest in history and heritage and sits on the board of many national and regional boards and committees.
     
• Bob Owen, a Chartered Engineer who retired from a senior role at Siemens in January 2008. He is also Chair of the Joule Centre for Energy Research and Development and is a Trustee of the Congleton District Voluntary Action Group.
     
• Professor David Phoenix, Professor of Biochemistry and Deputy Vice Chancellor at the University of Central Lancashire. He previously worked as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Biological Education and Biologist and is an advisor to an educational group in India.

MOSI Director, Steve Davies MBE, said: "We look forward to working closely with our new Vice Chair and trustees and sharing their wealth of knowledge and expertise. They have been appointed by the Department for Culture Media and Sport for a three year term. Their responsibility will be to guard and protect the long-term interest of the museum."
