Head of Equality and Diversity raises funds for leprosy sufferers
Patrick Johnson, Head of Equality and Diversity at the University, will be running in the BUPA Great Manchester 10K Run on 17 May. Patrick hopes to raise £1,800 which will support the charity 'Building Hope' to build one complete house for some of the poorest and the most disadvantaged families in Ethiopia, specifically those affected and disabled by leprosy.
Building Hope is a small charity that was founded by the University's very own 2007 volunteer of the year award winner, Veronique Rizzuto. Veronique commented that "This can really help to build a decent place to live and give an Ethiopian family an opportunity to escape the vicious cycle of poverty. Any help, however small can go a long way to making a real difference to this community".
