The University’s Single Equality Scheme
- Is it all about political correctness?
- What do you think needs to happen to make the University a truly fair place to work?
The University is in the process of developing a Single Equality Scheme. The Scheme is essentially a strategy document that will set out the actions that are required across the University to address disadvantage, remove barriers, eliminate discrimination, and actively promote equality and embrace diversity. At the University we are seeking to genuinely value diversity. We want to take the action required that will help create a fair and equal working environment. For more information about the Scheme, what it will cover and why it is being developed, follow the link below:
What do you think?
To do this it is important we know what you think. We are planning to undertake a series of activities during 2009 to involve and consult with people during the development of the Scheme. For more information regarding these activities follow the link below:
Staff Focus Groups April 2009
As part of this involvement and consultation the University has commissioned an external researcher to undertake a series of focus groups with staff during April 2009. These sessions will look into the experiences of staff with individual sessions focusing on disability, race, gender, working in the UK international staff, sexual orientation and religion or belief.
