This year's Wellbeing Week (28-30 April) offers three days of exciting FREE activities and stalls in the Wellbeing Room, Dover Street Building.

Organised by the Wellbeing Team at The University of Manchester, Wellbeing Week is a partnership between different parts of the University and external organisations, working together to present some of the health, fitness and well-being opportunities available on campus. 

This year will be our third Wellbeing Week. Each year more events are included and each year there has been an increase in the number of people attending; in 2009 we are hoping that that trend will continue.

Take the time to discover new ways of improving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle and state of mind: de-stress with sessions such as Calm Energy - and how to achieve it, enjoy a massage or have a fitness assessment and find out your body fat composition. Try out the FREE activities on offer and start the summer term as you mean to continue.

Activities during Wellbeing Week include:

  • FREE head and shoulder massage
  • FREE vouchers for classes at the Sugden Centre and the Armitage Centre
  • FREE vouchers for swimming at the Aquatics Centre
  • FREE Watt Bike fitness testing
  • FREE Smoking cessation advice
  • FREE Pilates for Beginners course
  • FREE Alexander Technique session
  • FREE Relaxation sessions
  • FREE Introduction to Meditation
  • FREE Calm energy and how to achieve it
  • FREE Yoga for Healthy Lower backs
  • FREE Mindfulness-Based Stress reduction
  • FREE On the Eighth Day stall
  • FREE One-to-one eating advice on how to reduce fat around your stomach
  • FREE Exercises to beat fat around the middle
  • FREE Managing Anxiety
  • FREE Introduction to Relaxation for Stress
  • FREE Healthy eating advice

Wellbeing Week:

Tuesday 28, Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 April 2009, 11am until 3pm
Wellbeing Room, Dover Street Building Old Wing, Dover Street, Off Oxford Road, M13 9PL

You can just drop in to the massage and fitness screening and other stalls, but you will need to book the following sessions in advance at:

Tuesday 28 April 11am – 12noon Exercises to beat fat around the middle
12.15-1pm Park Jog
12.30 – 1.15pm Campus Walk
1 – 2pm Managing Anxiety
2 – 3pm Introduction to Relaxation for Stress
Wednesday 29 April 11am – 12noon Alexander Technique
12.30 – 1.15pm Campus Walk
1 – 2pm Introduction to Meditation
2 – 3pm Calm energy and how to achieve it
Thursday 30 April 11am – 12noon Yoga for Healthy Lower backs
11am – 12noon One to one eating advice on how to reduce fat around the middle
12noon – 1pm Actively Managing your mood
1 – 2pm Mindfulness Based Stress reduction
1 – 2pm One to one eating advice on how to reduce fat around the middle
2 – 3pm Introduction to Pilates
