Elephant skeleton takes pride of place in new 'Manchester Gallery'
Manchester Museum's new gallery - 'The Manchester Gallery' opens on Saturday 4 April. The gallery will explore the connections between the people of Manchester, the city’s history and the Musuem’s collection.
Taking pride of place is the skeleton of 'Maharajah' - an elephant, who was the star attraction at Belle Vue Zoo in the late 1800s.
Part of the Museum's Our City project, the Museum has been working with local community groups to come up with ideas for the gallery.
