The 2009 IET/BCS Manchester Turing Lecture, sponosored by IBM, will take place here at the University on Tuesday 3 February. This year’s lecture, titled 'Information Engineering and its Future', will be given by Professor Sir Michael Brady (FRS FEng, BP Professor of Information Engineering at the University of Oxford).
Professor Brady is the author of over 450 articles and 24 patents in computer vision, robotics, medical image analysis, and artificial intelligence. His talk will examine what is meant by 'Information Engineering', indeed what is meant by 'Engineering', and will speculate upon possible future developments in the field.
The lecture will take place in Roscoe Lecture Theatre A at 6pm, is free to attend, and is open to BCS/IET members and staff and students of The University of Manchester, as well as to the general public.
However, places are limited so pre-booking is compulsory.
The lecture will be followed by a hot fork buffet at Christie's Bistro. Places are again limited and there is a charge for the buffet reception.
