MUGSS presents 'The Sorcerer'.
13 Jan 2009
18-21 February at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Manchester Universities' Gilbert and Sullivan Society (MUGSS) presents 'The Sorcerer', their 60th show, at the RNCM from 18 to 21 February.
Made up of students and staff from The University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University, MUGSS has been rehearsing since October for their production of this popular operetta. With 80 active members, the society produces every aspect of their show, meeting twice a week during term time to rehearse, build and paint set, make costumes, and plan the technical stage management. The results are energetic, vibrant shows renowned for their novel interpretations of these classic musicals.
The Sorcerer is a bold, vibrant fairy tale of busty wenches, gallant men and love gone spectacularly awry - 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream' with even more confusion as a couple just about to be married decide to share their bliss with the entire village, hiring a sorcerer to make everyone else fall in love.
'The Sorcerer' is on at the RNCM, Oxford Road from Wednesday 18 to Saturday 21 February 2009 (plus a Saturday matinee). Tickets are available from £5 and can be purchased:
- through the RNCM box office (0161 907 5555)
or - direct from MUGSS (tickets@mugss.org / 07709 587692)
