Manchester Leadership Programme for Researchers now launched.
12 Jan 2009
Registration opens on 15 December for new scheme.
Applications are invited from research staff and doctoral researchers for places on this innovative scheme.
This scheme is unique to The University of Manchester and offers an excellent opportunity to step outside of your research focus and use your skills and enthusiasm to contribute constructively to your local and global community. This is also a chance to actively develop your transferrable skills and enhance your future employability through participation in a programme that has gained strong support from major employers.
What will the MLP for Researchers offer?
- The opportunity to engage with contemporary research across many disciplines.
- The opportunity to experience an innovative online unit that is a unique example of the potentials of e-learning resources deliverable through Blackboard.
- The opportunity to develop leadership and other transferable skills through volunteering activities within the local community.
- The opportunity to apply research skills to current Third Sector problems, both to benefit local/national charities and NGOs, and to enable you to practice your research skills in a non-academic setting.
- The opportunity to develop communication, team work and planning skills.
- The opportunity to improve employability, both through volunteering activities and through gaining the Manchester Leadership Award (the award has gained strong support from major employers).
- The opportunity to be actively involved in shaping the MLP for Researchers programme.
In this pilot year places are limited to 35 participants.
Applications close on 16 January 2009.
