Seventeenth century music, stand-up, and Swiss Ambassador's Award Concert.

Our next concert is the Symposium Concert – It’s My Song on Saturday 6 September. The evening promises to be an exciting look into the changing face of music in seventeenth century England. The performance includes works by John Dowland, Robert Johnson, Henry Lawes, Pietro Reggio and Henry Purcell, with countertenor Robin Blaze and Elizabeth Kenny on lute.

We are very proud to present Wat’s So Funny on Thursday 11 September! It’s back with another night of magical mayhem from the North West finest stand ups. Compared by Gordon Zola, featuring Stockport Housewife Mrs Barbara Nice, Kelly J Roberts, Nick Fraser, Isma Almas & Guy Thomas. With beautiful musical interludes from 'The Band' - a night not to be missed!

The night will be sponsored by Marble Beers and if you book a six-person table for £45, a complimentary pitcher of beer is included!

On Tuesday 23 September the Swiss Ambassador's Award Concert, in the presence of the Ambassador of Switzerland will be taking place at The Martin Harris Centre. The night will feature Louis Schwizgebel-Wang, the acclaimed young pianist who gave his first piano concerts at the age of nine. As well as winning many prestigious awards he has performed as a soloist with several distinguished orchestras. Pieces include works from Mozart and Mussorgsky. Looking further ahead, we have just announced details of our resident quartet Quatuor Danel season tickets, which are on sale now. They will be performing a collection of Friday evening concerts as well as a range of FREE lunchtime concerts. Further information is available from our website or by contacting our box office.

We also have tickets for our Literature Live festival. These unique events, organised by the University’s Centre for New Writing, bring the best-known contemporary writers to Manchester to discuss and read from their work. Events take place from Wednesday 24 September to Monday 15 December. Guests include Andrew O’Hagan, Colm Tόibín, Ciaran Carson, Jorie Graham, Nil Gaiman, Jenny Diski, Elaine Feinstein, DBC Pierre and Martin Amis. Contact the box office today for more information!
