Exciting things to do in the summer holidays.

Welcome to our August family newsletter full of exciting things to do in the summer holidays. With Iron Age crafts and our celebrations for Beijing Olympics Week, there's something for all the family.

The Manchester Museum

The Manchester Museum is open daily

Tuesday-Saturday: 10am-5pm
Sunday, Monday and Bank Holidays: 11am-4pm

Family Friendly Film Festival

Come and watch first flicks for the under fives at the Museum throughout the Family Friendly Film Festival. These short animations are perfect for little movie monsters. They are very chilled-out, with comfy seating and colouring sheets!

The programme includes films like Pingu Makes a Big Splash, Rindin the Puffer Fish, Good Night Gorilla and many other favourites.

Screenings take place in the Museum on Saturday 9, Sunday 10, Wednesday 13 and Sunday 17 August at 1-2pm. Tickets cost £1 per person and booking is required on 0161 275 2648. All films are suitable for the under 5s.

Beijing Olympics Week

Monday 11 - Friday 15 August 1-3pm

Celebrate the Beijing Olympics with us through a variety of activities and object-handling sessions. Meet John Stubbs MBE who will be participating in the Archery Paralympics, at a special handling session on Thursday 14 August 1-3pm. Join in calligraphy sessions and meet the Olympic mascots. Handle objects from the Museum's collection relating to China and the history of the Olympics.

In association with the Confucius Institute and The University of Manchester.

Iron Age art and crafts

Daily 11-4pm until Friday 29 August

Take part in a variety of art and craft activities linked to our special exhibition Lindow Man: A bog body mystery. Build your own Iron age hut and make jewellery (Weds & Thurs pm only £1.50), design a shield and handle orginial objects. Craft sessions take place daily, are drop-in and free unless stated.
