'Work Matters' - A series of three workshops for staff run by the Counselling Service:
- Panic-Anxiety Clinic
Wednesday 9 July 2008, 1-2.30pm, in the Well-Being Room, Old Dover Street Building, Dover Street
Do you experience panic/anxiety? Does it stop you from doing the things you want to do? Would you like the knowledge and skills to make changes?
This workshop is for staff who would like to explore their own anxiety cycles. We will work in small groups in order to find better understanding of these and explore strategies to change them.
- Dealing With Pressure
Wednesday 16 July 2008, 1-2.30pm, in the Well-Being Room, Old Dover Street Building, Dover Street
Do you feel pressured at work, home or other situations in your life?
Do you find it hard to cope with the demands of others or those you place on yourself?
Would you like to think about how you can improve your ways of managing these demands?
This workshop will examine guiding principles we might hold and how they affect our current responses to demanding situations and others. We will also think about how we can start to bring about change and so deal better with pressure.
We will consider some basic psychological ideas and apply them to our own situation. There will be the opportunity for some listening and reading, pair discussion and time for reflection. There will be no obligatory self-disclosure.
- Managing your Relationship with your Supervisees
Wednesday 23 July 2008, 1-2.30pm, in the Well-Being Room, Old Dover Street Building, Dover Street
Do you have an uneasy or unproductive relationship with your supervisee/s?
Are you finding it difficult to communicate with him/her?
Is it difficult to get your point across?
Are you concerned at upsetting him/her or do you find yourself feeling frustrated/irritated?
Would you like an opportunity to think about how you and your supervisee might get more out of the supervisory relationship?
This workshop involves identifying some ways of behaving and communicating that might help you become more effective in the supervisory relationship and learn ways of managing relationships more effectively.
There may be an opportunity for a further workshop if those attending wish to reflect on particular difficulties they are experiencing in the supervisory relationship.
