Research to Enterprise Summit on 17 June.

09 Jun 2008

Raising the profile of enterprise and entrepreneurship for researchers.

VENUE: Whitworth Hall, The University of Manchester

DATE: 17 June 2008

TIME: 6pm

The Research to Enterprise Summit will raise the profile of enterprise and entrepreneurship for researchers right across The University of Manchester.

There is an impressive line-up of speakers who will share their experiences, including Maggie Philbin (Tomorrow’s World); Luke Johnson (The Ivy, Pizza Express, Channel 4); Ian Livingstone OBE (Lara Croft/Tomb Raider, Games Workshop); Alasdair Rawsthorne (Transitive) and Rod Benson (Imagen Biotech).

The event is being held at the Whitworth Hall, The University of Manchester, on Tuesday 17 June 2008, 6pm–7.30pm. Admission is free and there will be a light buffet to follow in the Christie Library. There are also some great prizes to win in the free prize draw – just register to attend and turn up to see if you are one of the lucky winners.

The event is an opportunity for researchers in all faculties, whether at postgraduate, postdoctoral or staff level to be inspired to become more enterprising in whatever their career holds for them in the future; be it academia, industry or in starting their own business.

It will also be a networking opportunity for staff, researchers and those already involved in knowledge transfer at the University and Professor Rod Coombs, Vice President for Innovation & Economic Development, will open the summit.

The event is organised by the Manchester Science Enterprise Centre (MSEC) at The University of Manchester and funded by EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council).
