Temporary vehicular access/egress restriction at Bridgeford St/Chatham St junction.
The Capital Projects Unit would like to advise of a temporary vehicular access/egress restriction to the Bridgeford Street/Chatham Street junction of the campus, which is the area bounded by the Dental Hospital, the Multi-Storey Car Park, Humanities Bridgeford Street building and the Electro-Acoustics building.
Works to the Public Realm project are currently progressing in this area and in order to facilitate the next section of works and in the interests of health and safety for staff, students, visitors, the general public and patients, it will be necessary to temporarily close this route to vehicles for a short period of time.
The planned works are scheduled to last for a period of three weeks, from Monday 10 March until Sunday 30 March inclusive.
Members of staff who generally park in this area will be issued with a temporary car park permit for the Multi-Storey Car Park, via the Car Park Office, for the period of the works. Disabled users will be allowed access/egress to this area of campus via Coupland Street, off Higher Cambridge Street, and delivery/service companies will also be granted access/egress via this route. The Car Park Office will make arrangements directly with the Dental Hospital for patient access. Could any member of staff who is responsible for delivery/service vehicle access please advise the appropriate companies of the temporary arrangements.
The Coupland Street gates off Higher Cambridge Street will be manned jointly by the contractor and Car Park staff and will be open from 7.15am until 5.30pm Monday to Friday. Anyone wishing to gain vehicular access outside of these times should make arrangements with the Car Park Office. There will be no pedestrian access via these gates.
A plan showing the temporary routes is available from the Car Park Office.
Emergency escape routes from all affected buildings in this area will be maintained and directional signage for both pedestrian and vehicular movement will reflect the current status.
It should be noted that the current access/egress arrangements into and out of the Multi-Storey Car Park will continue during these works.
It is anticipated that this section of the works will be completed to enable the current vehicular routes to be re-established on Monday 31 March.
The Capital Projects Unit would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any short term inconvenience this may cause and would request that any directional and health & safety guidance provided by the contractor and our car park staff, are strictly adhered to at all times during these works.
