UMUCU open meeting for fixed-term and hourly-paid staff.

University of Manchester University and College Union (UMUCU) invite you to an open meeting (non-members welcome) for staff employed on short term funding, including those on fixed-term, open-ended and hourly paid contracts.

Since the change in the law in 2002, all staff with these types of contracts are specifically protected from unfavourable treatment. In addition, those who have worked for one employer on successive fixed term contracts for longer than four years should be moved on to open ended contracts, unless there is an 'objective justification'.

Please come along to the Bragg Lecture Theatre, Schuster Building (building number 54 on campus map) on Monday 10 December, 12.30 - 1.30pm, where we will be discussing how UCU is working to ensure that these issues are tackled. There will be opportunities for people to ask questions and raise any concerns.
