Staff Network Day Event on Wednesday, 14 May

25 Apr 2025

Celebrate our staff networks this May

This May, we are shining a light on the valued contribution of our Staff Networks. Our Staff network groups are an important mechanism for how the University listens to the experiences and perspectives of colleagues. They are also a fantastic way to network with people from all over the University.  Many of the groups also offer confidential support and advisory services from their members to any member of staff.

Staff network groups meet regularly, and all have individual agendas and terms of reference. Issues raised by our staff network groups are fed into our EDI Committee via the EDI Forum, both of which meet four times a year.

Staff Network event on Wednesday, 14 May

On Wednesday, 14 May, the Directorate of EDI will be hosting the annual event for Staff Network Day. This year, it will take place in Simon Building 11am-1pm.

There will be an opportunity to visit our Staff Network stalls and meet the co-chairs and members, who will be happy to answer your questions. The stalls will be active in Simon Building Foyer/Benugo Café between 11am and 1pm.

There will also be a ‘Human Library’ event in Simon Building, Room 4.08 at 12pm.

You are welcome to turn up for the stalls without registration. However for the ‘Human Library’, please sign-up via this link.

Get involved

You can get involved with a staff network group:

  • Become a member and share your ideas (members can attend up to four meetings a year across all the groups they are a member of, plus one other associated activity like an event or workshop);
  • Become an ally and share ideas and feedback without being a member.
  • Chairs of staff network groups are given half a working day per month to carry out their duties (with prior agreement of line manager).
  • Contributions to staff network groups are recognised in Performance and Development Reviews where a colleague has contributed significantly to the work of the group over a sustained period of time.
  • You can find out more about becoming a member or ally of a staff network group by contacting the group or a member of the EDI team.
