Addressing leadership visibility in the Faculty of Science and Engineering
David Weston, Deputy Director of Faculty Operations and Head of Communications and Marketing in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, reflects on work taking place across the Faculty Office in response to issues raised in previous surveys.
The Staff Survey 2022 highlighted that colleagues wanted senior leaders to be more visible and have more opportunities to hear from them and share ideas and feedback. To help with this, a series of profiles featured in the FSE newsletter Beeline newsletter, providing insights into the roles of leadership team members.
David also talks about the success of regular open meetings, which have evolved from the online format during the COVID pandemic. These meetings now feature a range of speakers offering valuable insights and addressing topics of interest that have been raised by colleagues.
To help colleagues feel more connected, FSE now have a range of community building activities and social networks, including communities of practice and more informal opportunities like virtual coffee breaks. All of these are helping to build a greater sense of community and help support wellbeing.
Watch the video to learn more about these initiatives and how they are making a positive impact across the Faculty.
