As the three-year AHRC funded project, In Place of War, reaches its final stages, we celebrate with two specially commissioned pieces of theatre, music and a drinks reception. We will also feedback about the project, its outcomes and where we go from here.

Muslim Young Women's Drama Project

These performances are the outcome of a series of participatory theatre workshops with young Muslim women in Manchester. This project has provided a high quality experience of participatory performance in a manner sensitive to the religious and cultural needs of young Muslim women. The performance reflects young women' s experiences, concerns, ideas and dreams, and explores and celebrates their identity as young Muslim women in Britain.

This play will also be performed on Thursday 13 December.

Love Time Now

'Tuvukana Unity', the Medical Foundation drama group in Manchester, presents Love Time Now, a short piece of theatre about love and belonging. What happens to your way of life when you leave the place where you were born to settle in a new place? How do we negotiate love, life and relationships when we feel as though don't know the rules any more? And how on earth did we manage without mobile phones?

The Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture was set up in 1985 to provide medical assessment, care, practical assistance, treatment and support to survivors of torture. The drama group has been meeting at the Manchester branch since 2004.
