Anti-Bullying Week 2024

Access Report and Support or train to be a Harassment Support Advisor
We are marking Anti-Bullying Week 2024 that takes place from Monday 11 to Friday 15 November. Anti-Bullying Week 2024 is coordinated in England, Wales and Northern Ireland by the Anti-Bullying Alliance and this year’s theme is 'Choose Respect'.
All of the support available at our University and what we mean by bullying, harassment and discrimination is included on our dedicated pages for Dignity at Work and Study.
Support at the University
Report and Support is a confidential platform and can be used to tell us about any form of bullying, harassment, discrimination or hate that you have experienced or witnessed.
Information submitted via Report & Support is not linked to any other system at the University and is only viewed by the triage teams in the Directorate of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, for staff, and Advice and Response, for students.
Anonymous reports are useful for when people see something and want to make us aware of a behaviour or situation. These reports are held confidentially and can help spot patterns of behaviour as well as alerting us to people in danger.
Should you choose to seek further advise from an advisor, they will see this information to be able to advise you accordingly.
Become a Harassment Support Advisor
Are you a good listener… non-judgmental… able to keep calm and signpost people to different support services inside and outside our University?
If so, then the role of Harassment Support Advisor may be suitable for you. The HSA service forms part of the informal process included in our Dignity at Work and Study Policy – they provide additional support for staff who may need further information and advice on bullying, harassment and discrimination.
The expansion of the current Harassment Support Advisor network offers the opportunity to build a broader knowledge base across more sections and areas of our University. Harassment Support Advisors are a crucial part of the Report and Support service with the message of zero tolerance to of any form of bullying, harassment or discrimination.
We also offer people the opportunity to request an HSA from a particular equality group – with this in mind, we are keen to hear from BAME, disabled, LGBT+, male and religious staff who are currently underrepresented amongst our HSA volunteers.
