Help us identify student roles for the new version of Stellify

07 Nov 2024

Can you help to identify student roles which could be included in the new version of Stellify?

Stellify

In September 2025, we will be launching a new revamped Stellify Award for our undergraduate and postgraduate taught students. This is following a wide range of consultation with staff, students and graduate employers.

The new version of Stellify aims to be more inclusive and recognise a much wider range of activities that students engage with whilst they are here. These activities will be grouped under four different themes:

  • Making a Difference – recognises our students who make an active contribution that benefits others in communities locally, nationally or internationally.
  • Becoming a Global Citizen – supports our students to learn, experience and reflect on their place in the world and the issues affecting society in the 21st century.
  • Developing my Skills – aims for our students to develop a broad range of soft skills including leadership and teamwork.
  • Shaping my Future – supports our students to undertake activity that helps them make informed decisions about their next steps after their degree.

The Award will continue to be unique to Manchester, combining our teaching, learning and student experience and social responsibility goals.

The new award aims to provide greater choice and flexibility to students. To this end, paid as well as voluntary work will be recognised, and a much wider range of activity that a student can engage with as part of student life, outside of their academic credit-bearing studies will be included. All students will need to complete some activity under all four themes. However, they can also choose to weight their activity to put more focus on the themes that they wish to. Each activity will each be given a points value to allow students to build their own pathway to achieving the Stellify Award.

Do you support any extracurricular or co-curricular student roles?

We are now undertaking an audit of all activities supported by different parts of the University which could be included. These could be managed at School, Faculty or central level or within the Students’ Union.

Are you aware of an activity offered to students which fits one of the four themes above? It could be paid or voluntary but should not count towards academic credits.

If so, we want to hear from you!
