Exciting enhancements to course profiles: elevating the prospective student experience

28 Oct 2024

We have recently launched exciting enhancements to the course profile pages on the University website, aimed at improving both their design and functionality for our users.

Part of the Course Profile Improvements Project (CPIP), these improvements to our course profile pages offer a fresh, user-friendly, fully accessible design that significantly enhances the course fact files while delivering essential information in a clearer, more concise way to prospective students.

Paul Govey, Interim Director of Student Marketing, said: “This vital content accounts for half of all our website traffic and is the main way prospective students find out about what’s possible for them at Manchester. This is a significant project delivering redesigned course information that will enhance the user experience and support our student marketing and recruitment efforts.”

Led by Milena Cimmarrusti-Davila in University Marketing, CPIP is a collaborative effort involving the Directorate of Communications, Marketing and Student Recruitment (DCMSR); IT Services; Faculty Recruitment, Admissions and Digital teams; the International Office; Access and Success; Teaching and Learning; and Central Admissions.

Further improvements to the course profile pages will be rolled out in future phases of the project. For more information about CPIP, please contact milena@manchester.ac.uk

Alongside this, we have also launched a new set of pages within the Study area of the University website: Student Life.

This digital project has been led by Beth Piggott (Student Marketing Manager, DCMSR), and delivered in-house by colleagues from across University Marketing and Student Marketing.

To kick off this project, the team reimagined how prospective students could interact and engage with the themes of our campus, the student experience and the city. Our new pages are centered around student-led content, with lots of videos, photography, quotes and tips. We’ve also implemented YouTube shorts, enabling us to provide a much more integrated social content experience.

The project team has taken great care to work with a wide range of students at all levels of study, including student content creators and graduate interns, to ensure the pages promote a sense of belonging, showcase authentic stories and celebrate student diversity and inclusion.
