The University of Manchester joins the UK Town and Gown Association

30 Sep 2024

The University of Manchester, along with Manchester Metropolitan University, Manchester City Council and Manchester Student Homes (the university housing service for both The University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University), is delighted to join the UK Town and Gown Association (UKTGA) under their new membership model.

University building

The UKTGA is an association of community practitioners that aims to strengthen the relationship between universities and the communities where their students reside. They connect and support the professional development of members, ultimately contributing to making their communities better places to live, work and study for all residents.

For the past 10 years, led by Manchester Student Homes, the UKTGA has been known as a pioneering and professional community of practice in Town and Gown relationships across the UK. With over 300 off-campus practitioners, the UKTGA provides an opportunity to connect, learn, and share knowledge and expertise.

We are excited to join the UKTGA as they begin this new chapter as a membership organisation and look forward to developing connections with other members across the sector. We also look forward to welcoming off-campus practitioners from across the county (and beyond!) to Manchester this autumn for the bi-annual UKTGA conference, which will explore the theme of Building Bridges: Innovating Together for Sustainable and Inclusive Communities. For more information about the conference and to book tickets visit the website.
