Making a Difference award winners

Following the keen interest of colleagues in our social responsibility open sessions during 2023/24 academic year we are now offering a second series of sessions, covering various aspects of social responsibility, civic engagement and public engagement. These online sessions are open to all staff to attend.

Starting with an ‘Introduction to Social Responsibility and Civic Engagement’ session on Wednesday, 9 October, we will then run a further four sessions. See below for details.

Participants may attend as many or as few sessions as they wish.

Who should attend?

These sessions are aimed at all staff and students who are interested in how our University is making a positive difference to society and the environment through our social responsibility, civic engagement and public engagement activities.

Through these sessions you will be able to gain a greater understanding of different aspects of social responsibility, civic engagement and public engagement at the University. You will hear how our work results in real actions and impact and see how we are making a difference regionally, nationally and internationally.

The content will be useful to anyone who wishes to find out more about the impact of our social responsibility, civic engagement and public engagement activities; make connections to key programmes and the people behind their delivery; and engage with our plans for the future.

Chaired by senior leaders and delivered by guest speakers, the sessions will be delivered from the perspective of managers and beneficiaries to provide real-life examples of our impact. Each session will provide time for questions, audience perspective and feedback.

Each session will last approximately 45 minutes.
