Book now: Join our Foundation Day celebration
18 Sep 2024
This year’s celebrations will take place on Wednesday, 2 October at 3.30pm in the University Place
The University of Manchester in its current form was created in 2004 by the amalgamation of the Victoria University of Manchester and the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST). We mark this occasion every October by celebrating our Foundation Day.
This year's event is particularly special as we mark the beginning of our University's third century and it will be a chance to hear from our new President & Vice-Chancellor, Professor Duncan Ivison.
In his Foundation Day address, Duncan will explore critical questions about our future, the path to achieving our ambitions, and the ways in which we can further our commitment to social responsibility, teaching and research excellence, and civic engagement.
The event will take place 3.30pm - 5.00pm on Wednesday, 2 October in University Place and will include a reception with refreshments, followed by Duncan’s address and an interactive Q&A session.
