New Whistleblowing Policy and reporting procedure now available
As part of our commitment to creating a safe, open and transparent working environment, the University has updated its Whistleblowing (Public Interest Disclosure) Policy and Procedure.
A whistleblowing concern must be in the public interest and could include anything from financial malpractice to a serious health and safety violation.
Our new policy emphasises the importance of colleagues knowing how to speak up, addressing concerns about potential wrongdoing, and ensuring protection for those who come forward with disclosures.
The policy aims to:
- reassure employees that it is safe for them to raise genuine concerns at the earliest possible stage about matters of public interest, without the fear of detrimental treatment;
- provide clear guidance about the process for raising genuine concerns;
- provide assurance that such concerns will be taken seriously and investigated appropriately.
We’ve also produced a Whistleblowing Flow Chart which summarises the University’s internal procedure for reporting and investigating whistleblowing concerns.
