Diversity Champions Programme: applications open

Following another successful cohort in 2023/24, the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Directorate are delighted to open recruitment for the next cohort of the Diversity Champions programme with Be What You See Consultancy Ltd.

Be what you see

The programme aims to raise awareness of barriers that underrepresented groups face in society and the workplace, whilst equipping staff with the knowledge, skills and confidence to champion good practice in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.  

This 12-month programme will be delivered by leading sector organisations and trainers in anti-racism, LGBTQ+, Neurodiversity and Active Bystander Theory to adapt our working culture into a more inclusive work environment.  

Who is eligible?  

The programme is open to all colleagues who have the support of their line manager, to attend the full programme, as their support and involvement will be critical to the programme.  

How many places are available?  

There are a total of ten places available for the 2024/2025 cohort.  

What is the time commitment?  

Applicants must be available to participate in all sessions during the programme which will be taking place in person and on campus. There will also be individual 1:1 meetings which will take place online and when convenient for the participant.

  • Induction - Wednesday, 25 September 2024  
  • Active Bystander - Thursday, 26 September 2024  
  • Anti-Racism - Day 1 - Tuesday, 3 December 2024  
  • Anti-Racism - Day 2 – Tuesday, 10 December 2024  
  • Train the Trainer - Theme 1 – Tuesday, 14 January 2025  
  • LGBTQIA+ - Day 1 – Tuesday, 11 March 2025  
  • LGBTQIA+ - Day 2 – Tuesday, 18 March 2025
  • Train the Trainer - Theme 2 - Tuesday, 22 April 2025  
  • Neurodiversity - Day 1 – Tuesday, 3 June 2025  
  • Neurodiversity - Day 2 – Tuesday, 10 June 2025  
  • Train the Trainer - Theme 3 - Tuesday, 8 July 2025 
  • End of Programme - Half Day – Tuesday, 9 September 2025  

Timings are 10am-4pm, apart from the final session. 

How to apply: 

  • Please complete this form with approval from your line manager and a few lines regarding why you would like to become a Diversity Champion before midnight on Monday, 9 September in order to be considered. 
  • Please note: This is a 12-month course and you must be able to commit to and attend each session. Your department will be required to contribute 50% (£1,250.00) of the cost for your place on the course. Please therefore ensure you have full line manager support, and that they are aware of this information.
