Our Bicentenary celebrations will continue for the rest of the year - take a look
As we continue to mark our bicentenary year, we are delighted to share some of the fantastic events and opportunities that lie ahead and remind you of the activities you can enjoy this Summer and beyond.
What’s On
Exhibitions on Campus: If you didn’t catch an exhibition at Universally Manchester Festival, you can still enjoy the vibrant Teenage Kicks exhibition at the National Graphene Institute Gallery, available until the autumn. Additionally, explore the Rare Books and Manuscripts from our Special Collections in the Library, on display until June 2025.
Historical Campus Tours: Discover the University from a fresh perspective with our Origins and Innovations self-guided tours. Whether on campus or remotely, these tours offer captivating stories of our pioneering achievements, remarkable discoveries, and progressive beginnings, all whilst exploring our historic campus buildings.
Talk 200 Lecture and Podcast Series: We have several exciting topics lined up for the next instalments of the Talk 200 series, with two in-person lectures taking place in London and Manchester.
There are also two new podcasts to listen to.
One podcast sees Professor Colette Fagan, our Vice-President for Research and responsible for leading our research and doctoral training strategy discusses fairness and equality with two of our students, our Students’ Union Wellbeing and Liberation Officer, Aisha Akram and final year MBChB Medicine student and award-winning social entrepreneur, leader, builder and public speaker, George Obolo.
The other features Professor Alejandro Frangi, Director of the Christabel Pankhurst Institute and the Bicentennial Turing Chair in Computational Medicine, discussing health innovation and “Manchester as a living lab” with Clinical Senior Lecturer Dr Louise Hunter and Students Union Executive Officer for the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health, Raluca-Elena Valcescu.

Livestream events: It’s not too late to catch some of the fascinating talks from Universally Manchester. From exploring the history of Jodrell Bank to finding out how we can improve our immune system, it’s a great way to learn something new on your lunch break.
Highlights to come
City of Trees Initiative: We take pride in helping lead the way to a more sustainable world, so we’re delighted to be partnering with City of Trees for a special green initiative later this year.
Times Higher Education Conference: From Monday, 7 to Wednesday, 9 October, we are delighted to be hosting the prestigious THE World Academic Summit, welcoming 500 global leaders in higher education to our wonderful campus and city.
