IT incident info from our IT Service team - update 2

22 Jul 2024

Update on current status - Last updated Monday 22 July at 11am

Mitigation work on Friday and over the weekend means that major University systems have now been restored, however work is ongoing to fix residual issues.

Anyone with outstanding IT issues should report to the IT Support Centre through the IT Support Portal.

Thank you for bearing with us while we have been working on bringing remaining University services back online.

Update 1 (Friday 19 July, 4:42pm)

IT Services colleagues are continuing to work with the highest priority to restore services due to the ongoing IT incident affecting many organisations worldwide.

Most University IT services are now accessible. We have fixed the issue affecting the Duo 2-factor authentication service, so new logins to Duo-protected services such as Microsoft 365 should now be working as expected.

We will post further updates when we have additional information to share.

Original message (Friday 19 July, 9:43am)

We are currently experiencing technical difficulties affecting some services which is related to the global incident being reported in the news today.

We are putting our business continuity plans in place and will contact people directly if systems they use are affected.

Colleagues should carry on as normal  though there may be intermittent issues accessing some services such as Microsoft 365.

IT Services are working closely with our partners to ensure that we can return to normal as soon as possible.

Further updates will be posted here and on the help and support page of the IT Services website: https://www.itservices.manchester.ac.uk/help/
